Nokia 500 and Samsung Galaxy Gio are two touch-screen smartphone that has similar price tag.

In terms of the size, Nokia 500 has thicker body but has lighter weight than Samsung Galaxy Gio. Nokia 500 measures 111.3 x 53.8 x 14.1 mm and weighs 93 grams, Samsung Galaxy Gio measures 110.5 x 57.5 x 12.2 mm and weighs 102 grams.

Both Nokia 500 and Samsung Galaxy Gio have 3.2 inches capacitive touch screen. But Nokia 500 has higher screen resolution that is 360 x 640 pixels, while Samsung Galaxy Gio only has a screen with 320 x 480 pixels resolution.

The most fundamental difference of these devices is the operating system used. Nokia 500 uses Symbian Anna, while Samsung Galaxy Gio uses Android 2.2 Froyo and can be upgraded to Gingerbread OS. Both operating systems offer app store to download applications and games.

Nokia 500 is powered by 1GHz processor and 256MB RAM, while Samsung Galaxy Gio is powered by 800MHz processor and 278MB RAM. Nokia 500 has much bigger internal memory capacity that is 2GB, while Samsung Galaxy Gio only has 158MB internal memory. Both are equipped with microSD slot up to 32GB.

Nokia 500 comes with 5 MP camera while Samsung Galaxy Gio is only equipped with 3 MP camera. And unfortunately these two smartphones are not equipped with front camera.

For connectivity features both equipped with 3G networks with HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

For power capacity, Samsung Galaxy Gio is equipped with 1350mAh battery capacity, while Nokia 500 is equipped with 1110mAh battery capacity.

Nokia 500 has better specs than Samsung Galaxy Gio. So, we prefer the Nokia 500. Or if you prefer the Android smartphone you can choose Samsung Galaxy Gio.
