Both Sony Xperia Sola and Sony Xperia U use Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and Sony will release Android 4.0 ICS update for both devices. Sony Xperia Sola and Xperia U are powered by dual-core Cortex A9 processor 1GHz and 512MB RAM. Sony Xperia Sola is equipped with Mali-400 GPU, while Xperia U is equipped with Mali-400MP GPU.
Sony Xperia Sola has 8GB internal memory plus microSD slot up to 32GB, while Xperia U has 4GB internal memory capacity without being equipped with external memory slot.
Both smartphones are equipped with powerful 5 MP camera which has the ability to record 720p HD video. Both cameras are equipped with features like Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, 3D sweep panorama and image stabilization. Sony Xperia Sola offers better features plus Floating display technology. Of course, to get it you have to pay more.
